Buying bonds

I bought bonds today.

Does that mean I’m planning for the long term? Or that I’m being opportunistic and plan to sell them at a profit tomorrow? Or that I’m dead wrong, and should have chosen an alternative?

When will we know?

We’ll gain insight tomorrow based on my actions, and more insight based on my time horizon into the future compared to my alternatives.

I own it. The upside and the risk.

As we build Strategic Resilience for organizations, we’re ready to help solve someone else’s problems.

But who owns it?

Nassim Taleb in his renowned book, The Black Swan, critiqued those who stand on the sidelines, building models and theorizing. No skin in the game, of course. Monday morning QBs, etc, etc.

Steve Jobs in his 1992 presentation to students at MIT, is quoted, starting at 15:18 in the link below:

“Without owning something, over an extended period of time, like a few years, where one has a chance to take responsibility for one’s recommendations, where one has to see one’s recommendations through all action stages, and accumulate scar tissue from the mistakes and pick oneself up off the ground and dust oneself off, one learns a fraction of what one can. Coming in and making recommendations, and not owning the results, not owning the implementation, I think is a fraction of the value, and a fraction of the opportunity to get better."

Let’s align incentives to your strategic objectives.

And not just with your leadership team and employees, but with us too.
