OODA please
Focus. What must be accomplished today.
Already 50 things…
I used to describe the life of a busy executive as “50 things, on top of 50 things”
So, this will be quick-ish.
Assess
Big picture awareness. See the 50x50. Then filter, decide, do. Faster.
The “OODA loop” means to Observe, Orient, Decide, Act.
I first heard of the OODA loop after I joined the corporate strategy team at a large company. Thanks to Shane Parrish at the Farnam Street blog. Link below. And thanks to the US Air Force, fighter pilots using the OODA loop concept, to win the duel in the sky.
Decide
Did you take the red pill or the blue one? Turn Left or Right? Oh. You mean this was a big decision? A Jeff Bezos “irreversible decision vs reversible” decision? And when will you know if it was the RIGHT decision?
Today? No.
Back to Farnam Street, for a concise description of “second order thinking,” referencing the book by Howard Marks: “The Most Important Thing.”
So, as I read headlines about Harvard lawsuits and disruption. Wars abroad and conflict. Headlines. Focus, and decide based on second order thinking.
Act
Ok, got it. Back to work.
